The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kaohsiung ( lat. : Dioecesis Kaohsiungensis , Ch. : 天主教高雄教區 ) is in the Republic of China (Taiwan) located Roman Catholic diocese based in Kaohsiung .

history

The diocese of Kaohsiung was established on July 13, 1913 by Pope Pius X as the Apostolic Prefecture of Formosa . The Apostolic Prefecture Formosa was in on December 30, 1949 Apostolic Prefecture Kaohsiung renamed.

On March 21, 1961, the Apostolic Prefecture Kaohsiung was by Pope John XXIII. with the Apostolic Constitution Quoniam secundum raised to the diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Taipei as a suffragan .
