The diocese of Chiayi , sometimes diocese Kiayi ( Chinese  天主教嘉義教區 , Latin Dioecesis Kiayiensis ) is in the Republic of China (Taiwan) located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Chiayi . It is located in the western part of Taiwan and includes Chiayi City and Chiayi and Yunlin Counties .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Prefecture Chiayi with the Apostolic Constitution Ne nimia Missionum on August 7, 1952 from cession of the Apostolic Prefecture Kaohsiung .

On April 16, 1962 she was raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Cum Apostolica and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Taipei as a suffragan diocese.
