Alfred Gasperschitz

Alfred Gasperschitz (born August 10, 1912 in Bad St. Leonhard im Lavanttal ; † January 1, 1995 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and judge. He was from 1961 to 1971 member of the Federal Council and from 1971 to 1979 Member of the National Council .

Life

Gasperschitz attended grammar school after elementary school and studied law after graduating from high school . Since 1934 he was a member of the Catholic student association KaV Norica Vienna in the ÖCV . He received his doctorate as Dr. iur. and worked as a judge at the courts of Wels, Linz, Schärding and Mauerkirchen. Subsequently, he worked at the criminal court and juvenile court in Vienna. He was a higher regional judge and chairman of the senate. Gasperschitz became politically active from 1965 as chairman of the Federal Public Service Section in the ÖAAB and in 1971 became its deputy federal chairman . He was chairman of the Union of Public Employees and from 1972 President of the European Confederation of Public Service Unions. He also acted as chairman of the insurance company for public employees and represented the ÖVP from November 16, 1961 to November 4, 1971 in the Federal Council. He was then from November 4, 1971 to June 4, 1979 Member of the National Council. Gasperschitz was buried at the Sieveringer Friedhof (group 21, row 20, number 3).
