The Archdiocese of Taipei ( Latin Archidioecesis Taipehensis ) is a bishopric of the Roman Catholic Church located in Taiwan and has its seat in Taipei . It includes the northeastern part of Taiwan with the cities of Taipei, New Taipei and Keelung and the district of Yilan .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Prefecture Taipei with the Apostolic Constitution Quo in Insula on December 30, 1949 from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate Island of Formosa .

On August 7, 1952, it lost a part to the Apostolic Prefecture of Hwalien and on the same day it was elevated to the Metropolitan Archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Gravia illa Christi .

She lost another part of his territory on March 21, 1961 to the diocese of Hsinchu .
