Joseph Kuo Joshih
Joseph Kuo Joshih ( Chinese 郭 若 石 , Pinyin Guō Ruòshí , W.-G. Kuo Joshih ; born February 11, 1906 in Gaocheng , Chinese Empire ; † December 18, 1995 in Taoyuan , Taiwan ) was a Chinese clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church and Archbishop of Taipei .
Life
Joseph Kuo was ordained a priest on December 28, 1931. After the Chinese Civil War he moved to Taiwan and was appointed Apostolic Prefect of Taipei by the Holy See on June 13, 1950 . With the elevation of Taipei to the archbishopric , Kuo became the first archbishop of Taipei on August 7, 1952 . He held this office until his retirement in 1959. After that he was titular bishop of Salamis until his death on December 18, 1995 .
