The Diocese of Tainan ( Latin Dioecesis Tainanensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church located in the Republic of China (Taiwan) and has its seat in Tainan . It includes Tainan City and Penghu County in the western part of Taiwan Island .
history
Pope John XXIII founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Quoniam secundum on March 21, 1961 from cession of territory by the diocese of Kaohsiung . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Taipei as a suffragan diocese.
