The Diocese of Taichung ( Latin Dioecesis Taichungensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church located in Taiwan and has its seat in Taichung . It includes Taichung City and Changhua and Nantou Counties in the western part of Taiwan Island .

history

The cathedral in Taichung

Pope Pius XII founded the Taichung Apostolic Prefecture on August 10, 1950 from cessions of the Taipei Apostolic Prefecture . In 1952 it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Taipei as a suffragan diocese.

With the Apostolic Constitution Cum Deo iuvante she was raised to the diocese on April 16, 1962.
