Konstantin von Kleist
Konstantin (Karl) Ferdinand Friedrich Baron von Kleist (born November 5, 1812 in Mitau ; † August 11, 1886 ibid) was a Kurland state official.
Life
After attending the illustrious grammar school in Mitau, Konstantin von Kleist began studying law at the University of Bonn in 1831. There he first became a member of the Corps Curonia and in 1832 of the Corps Borussia. In 1834 he continued his studies at the University of Heidelberg and Munich. After completing his studies, he became assessor at the Hauptmannsgericht in Goldingen in 1837 and assessor at the Selburgschen Hauptmannsgericht in Jakobstadt in 1843. In 1846 he was appointed captain in Friedrichstadt and in 1856 Selburg's chief captain in Jakobstadt. From 1861 to 1868 he was the Courland Land Marshal. In 1868 he became Oberburggraf, in 1874 Chancellor and in 1878 Landhofmeister of the Courland High Court in Mitau. He held the last office until his death. From 1878 to 1879 he was also the deputy president of the Court of Justice.
