Kondosouvli, Greek meat skewer

Kondosouvli ( Greek κοντοσούβλι ) is a spit roast in Greek cuisine and literally means "short skewer".

Kondosouvli is the "big brother" of the souvlaki (the skewer). Pork or mutton is in a marinade of oregano , salt , pepper , chopped garlic and lemon juice inserted and placed on large skewers. A Kondosouvli is approximately 40 cm long and up to 8 cm in diameter. The roast will cook and brown slowly over charcoal embers for 2–3 hours.
