Kool Rock Steady
Kool Rock Steady (* in New York ; † 1996 ; actually Edward Rudolph ) was an American rapper. He was a cousin of Afrika Bambaataa and grew up in Chicago , where he came into contact with the local house scene and the Chicago house music label DJ International. People like Tyree Cooper , Joe Smooth or Julian Jumpin 'Perez produced for him , who also released on the DJ International label.
His publications include, for example, Turn Up the Bass (produced by Tyree Cooper, the self-proclaimed "Prince of Hip House"), You Ain't Nobody (a diss track against KRS-One because it was negative in the media at the time about Hip House) or The Other Side of Me , which is clearly in the gangsta rap category. Kool Rock Steady released various tracks in the mid-90s, including a remix of Turn Up the Bass with Too Kool Chris . The commercial success remained compared to the original by Tyree Cooper, however.
Kool Rock Steady was most of all what would be called a "battle rapper" today. His lyrical scope included gangsterism, dance and party cheering and the "dissing" from other rappers.
In 1996, Kool Rock Steady died of complications from AIDS.
