Copy wheel

Copy wheel

The copy wheel is mainly used to transfer a cutting pattern onto neutral paper. It consists of a toothed wheel with sharp teeth that is guided in a metal fork that is attached to a wooden handle.

By following the contours of individual cuts on the pattern sheet with the copy wheel, these also appear as perforations on the underlying paper . But you can also put copy paper in between and use a wheel with blunt teeth. Copy paper is available in the colors yellow / white for light fabrics and in red / blue for dark fabrics.

The use of a copy wheel is necessary because several cuts are usually accommodated on cutting pattern sheets and arranged as space-saving as possible. The different parts overlap, which is why they cannot be cut out individually. For a specific model, the appropriate cut must therefore be transferred to neutral paper, using a system of special contour lines (size lines), numbers and colors.

When processing the fur , color boundaries in the hair, for example the darker Grotzen , are transferred to the leather side with the copy wheel.
