Kordlar Tepe

Kordlar Tepe is a settlement mound in Iran and is located at a dominant point in the Rezaiyeh Plain , on the west bank of Lake Urmia , about 13 km east of the provincial capital Urmia in the province of West Azerbaijan .

Kordlar means "Kurd", Tepe or Tell is in archeology an elevation that resulted from repeated colonization. Like Hasanlu , Dalmā Tepe , Agrab Tepe , Geoy Tepe , Yanik Tepe , Dinkha Tepe and Haftavan Tepe , Kodlar Tepe is important for research into the Bronze and Iron Ages .

Settlement hill

Kordlar Tepe has a diameter of about 200 to 250 m. The excavations mainly took place in the northeastern part of the excavation hill. The two periods A and B were distinguished here. In period B of Kordlar Tepe there was a multi-room homestead, which was rebuilt several times. Between periods A and B, a settlement was hiatus . In period A there were several one-room huts in the excavation section. A deep cut was made southeast of the tell. created. The find inventory of this 13 m deep section shows a settlement from the Neolithic to the Sasanid period . Medieval tombs also came to light during the excavations.

Research history

After a pre-expedition in 1971, annual examinations were carried out from 1972 to 1978 by the University of Innsbruck under the direction of Karl Kromer and Andreas Lippert .
