Korinna Söhn

Korinna Zürner-Söhn (born April 28, 1950 in Munich ) is a German ballet teacher, writer and founder of the German Ballet Competition and the Dance World Cup .

Family background

Korinna Söhn is the daughter of Gudrun Söhn (1916–1998), dancer, actress and ballet teacher, and Karl Zürner (1919–1977), sports teacher. Her grandfather was the painter Richard Söhn-Skuwa, her great-grandfather the painter Carl Söhn .

Career

At the age of four she began taking ballet lessons in her mother's ballet school. Numerous public appearances followed a. a. in the Deutsches Theater in Munich. In 1958 she played in the film Casino de Paris . After graduating from St. Anna Gymnasium in Munich , she studied dance at the Munich University of Music . After graduating there as a dancer and ballet teacher, she worked as a dancer at various theaters in Europe. In 1980 she ended her career as a dancer and took over her mother's ballet school.

In addition to her work as a ballet teacher and choreographer , she wrote several books, musicals and texts for Schlager.

She is the 1st chairwoman of the Munich Ballet Association and founder of the Dance World Cup.

Foundations

  • In 1982, together with some Munich ballet enthusiasts, she founded the Munich Ballet Funding Association, which annually organizes the German Ballet Competition with its five regional competitions.
  • In 2001 she organized the Hellas Dance Festival in Piraeus near Athens, an international dance competition for children and young people. After two years she gave up the participation in this festival.
  • In 2004 she founded the Dance World Cup , the largest international dance competition for children, teenagers and young adults, in which dance students from around 30 different countries around the world now take part every year.
