Korinthos (King)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Korinthos ( Greek  Κόρινθος ), the son of Marathon , was in Greek mythology the brother of Sicyon and king of Ephyraia, who was later named Corinth after him . He is also known as the son of Zeus . Corinthus was the father of Sylea , the mother of Sinis .

After the death of Epopeus , the father of the Marathon, the latter had divided the kingdom between his two sons, whereby Sikyon Aigialaia, which was later called Sikyon after him, and Korinthos received Ephyraia. Pausanias says that Corinthos died childless and that the Corinthians established Medea and Jason as rulers. Another tradition puts this in the time of King Creon .
