The Kornhaus was a building in Düren , North Rhine-Westphalia that was destroyed in World War II .

The Kornhaus was located at 14 Philippstrasse, now Victor-Gollancz-Strasse, next to the Zum Franziskaner inn on what is now the parking lot of the adult education center .

The house was built in 1588 in the style of the Dutch-Low German late Renaissance as a fruit store . By order of Duke Karl Philipp, the stake and the punishment donkey were removed from the market square on April 19, 1717 and re-erected on the town courtyard next to the granary. The city courtyard from 1520 served as the city's material store.

In 1869 the Catholic secondary school with 86 pupils moved into the Kornhaus, which had been converted by Heinrich Wiethase . The city of Düren bought the house on July 1, 1918. The city council decided on July 11, 1925 to set up a local history museum in the Kornhaus . In 1936 the building was restored. The museum opened on February 26, 1939. The Leopold-Hoesch-Museum's local history was on display .

The granary was completely destroyed in the air raid on November 16, 1944 and was never rebuilt.
