Corps Or

The corps or was a major unit of the Army of the German Wehrmacht in World War II . The namesake for the corps was the river Oder .

history

The Oder Corps was formed as part of the Vistula Army Group in February 1945 on the lower Oder front and was part of the 3rd Panzer Army . The commanding general of the corps was the SS-Obergruppenführer and General of the Police and Waffen-SS Erich von dem Bach-Zelewski . During the Battle of the Oder the following were assumed:

• 610th Infantry Division (Colonel Fullriede ) south of Stettin near Kurow
• Combat group Colonel Wellmann north of Pargow to south of Gartz
• Klossek Infantry Brigade , as a reserve at Hohenleihe

During the Stettin-Rostock operation , the 2nd Belarusian Front managed to cross the Oder near Gartz on April 20, 1945 . Slapped General Command of the Corps or was disbanded in late April, the command area went to the from East Prussia zoom out XXVII. Army corps under General der Infanterie Walter Hörnlein over.
