from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Corps flag was a major unit of the Army of the German Wehrmacht in World War II . The corps was named after Lieutenant General Ludwig Merker, who commanded the corps . The corps was set up on April 21, 1945 at the Münsingen military training area. The task of the corps was to defend the slopes of the Swabian Alb in the Schömberg , Lichtenstein , Heubach and Hülben area. Due to the chaotic war situation and the lack of intelligence, contact with the subordinate units was no longer possible. As early as April 22, 1945, the corps had to withdraw to Biberach and was disbanded here.
