Establishment and territorial affiliation

Already in the Hülben family register from the year 1278 it was written about the residents of Hülben at that time: "A very solitary, sometimes stubborn mountain people who are not averse to drunkenness and womanhood."

Hülben was probably founded during the Alemannic conquest between 700 and 800. The place name is a dwelling name after the two hulls where the first settlers settled. In 1137 Hülben was first mentioned in the Zwiefalter Chronicle. In 1265 Hülben came to Württemberg as part of the County of Urach , which became Protestant in 1534 after the battle of Lauffen .

Hülben only got its own parish in 1866; previously it was a branch (daughter community) of Dettingen an der Erms .

religion

Protestant church

The parish Hülben includes the community Hülben. A Lady Chapel was first mentioned in 1233. It was a branch of Dettingen. In 1866 Hülben became a parish administration, in 1872 a parish. The early Gothic church was replaced in 1967 by a new church with a parish hall.

Pietism

The community became known nationwide primarily through the Kullen family of teachers, who came from Michael Cullin (* 1540) from Erkenbrechtsweiler . From 1722 to 1966 (uninterrupted until 1939) members of the Kullen family worked in the Hülben school service. “The heart of old pietism beats in Hülben”: The Kullen family also gave birth to the old pietist community that holds the “church fair Monday hour” every year to this day. Hülben community hours can be traced back to 1784.

coat of arms

New coat of arms

Blazon : "A golden ammonite in blue over a silver corrugated shield base."

The coat of arms was adopted by the municipal council for the 850th anniversary of the municipality and approved by the district office and the regional archives department. The ammonite refers to the location of the community on the Swabian Alb. The Wellenschildfuß refers as the previous coat of arms in the name of the community by the local name huele for pond, pool pond. The municipality colors are derived from the coat of arms yellow and blue.

Old coat of arms

Old coat of arms of Hülben

Blazon : "In silver over a black corrugated shield base, a black bar."

The mayor's office seal, which was used until 1930 and probably dates from the 19th century, shows a fallen ploughshare crowned with leaves as a symbol for agriculture. According to a municipal council resolution of March 12, 1948, the coat of arms of the municipality, which was no longer agricultural at that time, was to contain other figures. The then new, now old coat of arms was awarded on April 26, 1951 by the Württemberg-Hohenzollern Ministry of the Interior.

The base of the wave shield refers to the community name, which is derived from "hülwe" = pool or lake. The bar is intended to commemorate the knights of Dettingen who owned Hülben. The family des Cudis miles de Tettingen carried this heraldic figure.
