Gerhard Ruhbach

Gerhard Ruhbach (born March 31, 1933 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † November 10, 1999 in Bielefeld ) was a German Protestant theologian and professor of church history, his focus was on Christian spirituality.

Life

Gerhard Ruhbach studied Protestant theology and classical philology in Bethel , Heidelberg and Munich . After vicariate and ordination , he was assistant to Hans von Campenhausen in Heidelberg. In 1962 he was in Heidelberg with a dissertation on apologetics and history. PhD studies on the theology of Euseb of Caesarea . From 1963 until his death in 1999 he was the successor to Alfred Adam Professor of Church History at the Bethel Church University .

Ruhbach combined spirituality and scientific theology . He conveyed this important basic insight in teaching, through retreats and his publications on the subject of spirituality. In doing so, he built a bridge between university theology and parish piety.
