Markus Pleuler (born May 10, 1970 in Urach ) is a former German soccer player and current coach . In his playing career he was a midfielder .

career

Out of his youth, Markus Pleuler first came into contact with high-class football at SSV Reutlingen . The footballer from Hülben , who was strong in running and fighting, made the leap into the first team at the Kreuzeichekickern . In the 1991/92 season, "Magge", his nickname, narrowly missed the leap into the 2nd Bundesliga with the Reutlingen team under coach Wilfried Gröbner , because they failed in the promotion round at SpVgg Unterhaching . Previously, SSV Reutlingen had prevailed in the then third-class Oberliga Baden-Württemberg as champions before SSV Ulm 1846 .

From Reutlingen Pleuler then came to SSV Ulm 1846. There he made it to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1998. With 23 games and two goals, he contributed to the fact that the club surprisingly managed to march through from the regional league to the Bundesliga . He made his debut in the House of Lords on matchday 1 in a 1-1 draw against SC Freiburg on August 15, 1999. In total, he played 19 games in the first division. On February 28, 2000 he scored his only Bundesliga goal against Arminia Bielefeld with a left-footed shot.

After relegation, Pleuler moved to the second division club Stuttgarter Kickers , with whom he was relegated to the Regionalliga Süd. There he was a regular player in the first season. After he was not used at the beginning of the second season, he became the first German player to move to Romania and signed with the first division UTA Arad .

After only one season he came back to Germany and went to the regional league team SV Darmstadt 98 , who was coached by Bruno Labbadia at the time. In Darmstadt he also met his current wife Anja. Nevertheless, after only one year with the lilies , he returned to SSV Ulm in 1846. In the Münster city, however, he was no longer really happy and successfully sued for the termination of his contract.

In the summer of 2005, Pleuler took over as a player coach at SpVgg Au / Iller , which had been relegated from the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg to the Association League Württemberg. After a season as a player-coach, he finally ended his playing career at SpVgg Au / Iller in 2006, but was still available to the club as head coach. In 2008 Pleuler made the coach A license and, as a coach of SpVgg Au / Iller, won the runner-up in the Württemberg association league, which enabled the club to return to the major league. After the direct relegation he switched to the season 2009/10 as a coach in the Bayern League for TSG Thannhausen . In April 2012 he took over the coaching position at the relegation-threatened Baden-Württemberg association league club FC 07 Albstadt . At the end of the 2014/15 season, Pleuler gave up the coaching position in Albstadt, since the club had no prospects for the league.
