Korte cliff with a view of the Baldeneysee

The Korte cliff is a lookout point on Lake Baldeney in the Heisingen district of Essen . It is named after the Essen horticultural director Rudolf Korte (1878–1950).

location

The vantage point is near the Schellenberg hunting lodge on the southern edge of the Schellenberg Forest and north of the largest of the six Ruhr reservoirs , the Baldeneysee, which was built up in 1933 . From this point you can see the entire lake from the dam wall to the transition into the Ruhr west of Kupferdreh . In addition, the Essen districts Fischlaken and Heidhausen to the south of the lake can be seen from there .

The ruins of the Neue Isenburg are located about 600 meters to the west . Below the cliff, where Ruhr sandstone was once mined, the geological hiking trail runs along the Baldeneysee.
