Hämeenkoski

Hämeenkoski is a former parish in southern Finland. It was 30 km west of the city of Lahti in the Häme countryside . On January 1, 2016, the community was incorporated into Hollola . The municipality had a land area of ​​187.79 km² and an inland water area of ​​7.85 km². It had 2097 inhabitants on September 30, 2014.

Until 1995 the municipality was called Koski Hl; the name suffix Hl stood for the province of Häme , which was dissolved in 1997 and to which the municipality belonged, and distinguished it from the municipality of the same name Koski in the western Finnish province of Turku and Pori , which has the official name Koski Tl to this day . Koski existed between 1410 and 1540 as an independent parish , but was then added to the municipality of Lammi . With the administrative reform of 1865 Koski became independent again as a political municipality.

Hämeenkoski included the places Etola, Hankala, Huhti, Huljala, Hyrkkälä, Hyväneula, Järvenpää, Kaunkorpi, Koski, Käikälä, Leiniälä, Miehola, Padonmaa, Porvola, Putula, Saapas, Tenhiälä, Toijala and Töykkylä. The community center is located on the north shore of Lake Valkjärvi.

Hämeenkoski is the birthplace of Juho Kusti Paasikivi (1870-1956), the seventh President of Finland.
