Kosmos 110 is the code name for an unmanned flight of the Soviet spaceship Vozhod , which carried out tests in preparation for the flight of Vozhod 3 in Earth orbit in February 1966 . It was customary in the Soviet Union to give official names only to successful missions. Failed flights were mostly not announced at all and test flights were only announced under the general code name Kosmos.

The flight

The launch took place on February 22, 1966 at 20:09 UT from the Soviet Baikonur spaceport on board a Vozhod rocket . The two dogs Weterok and Ugoljok were in the spaceship. The flight served as preparation for the flight from Wozhod 3, which was canceled. The Vozhod return capsule landed safely on March 16, 1966.
