Kostra
Kostra (also KOSTRA 2010R-DWD) is a from the German Weather Service (DWD) out due heavy rain catalog and stands for Ko ordained St arkniederschlags- R egionalisierungs A uswertungen.
For the dimensioning of water management systems ( drainage systems , dams , dykes, ...) the occurrence probabilities of heavy rain events are required. For this purpose, the DWD has published a catalog of regionalized precipitation levels after extensive evaluations of historical rain events and statistical calculations .
The Kostradaten replace the rain series according to F. Reinhold.
The version KOSTRA-DWD-2010 received some criticism from specialist users and was replaced by the revised version KOSTRA-DWD-2010R as the official heavy rain evaluation for Germany from November 1, 2017.
