Colos

Colos (* 1981 in Prizren , SFR Yugoslavia , today Kosovo ; bourgeois Atdhe Gashi ) is a German rapper of Kosovar-Albanian origin. He is currently under contract with Mellowvibes Records and lives in Berlin .

biography

Colos was born in 1981 as Atdhe Gashi in Prizren in the former Yugoslavia, where he also spent his childhood. In 1994 he came to Germany as a war refugee from Kosovo and lived in Berlin-Kreuzberg . At the age of 21, his toleration in Germany ended and he had to return to Kosovo at the beginning of 2002, where he stayed for 18 months. At the end of 2003 he came to Germany illegally and applied for asylum, which was granted and allowed him to stay in Germany for a year. After that year he lived illegally in Germany.

In 2004 he founded the Streetsoul label , which a short time later flowed into the VS Recordz label , which he runs together with the producer Woroc . With him, Colos also founded the VS Mafia crew , which also includes rappers ST Pain and Chagome and producer Kazanova.

In 2006, shortly after the release of his first solo album Honigblut , he signed a contract with the Berlin independent label Mellowvibes Records , which was founded by Zulu King Ben and Afrika Bambaataa . On this label he released his second solo album Leben im Exil in May 2007 , which received many good reviews and earned him an entry in the Backspin HipHop Yearbook 2007 .

At the end of 2007 Colos surrendered to the authorities for personal reasons and was sent back to Kosovo on November 10, 2007.

After more than nine months in Kosovo, he returned to Germany. A few months after his arrival in Berlin, Colos was on September 29, 2008, next to journalist and author Wolfgang Büscher , MTV presenter Patrice Bouédibéla , rapper gynecologist and Sami Ben Mansour at the press conference for the soundtrack Germany's Forgotten Children , which after three days out on Mellowvibes Records. There are almost 50 tracks on the soundtrack, including many well-known rappers and singers such as Kool Savas , Xavier Naidoo , D-Flame and many others. The proceeds from the sampler flowed into the work of the Arche children's and youth welfare organization , which aims to give some of the roughly two million children who live below the poverty line in Germany a perspective.

In October 2009 Colos released his third solo album Independent on Mellowvibes Records, on which the rappers Jeyz , Jonesmann and Taichi also played.
