August von Kotzebue

Kotzebue's Dramas - A Lexicon is a one-volume reference work published by Wehrhahn Verlag in 2011 with entries on over 200 plays written by August von Kotzebue . It was edited by Johannes Birgfeld (* 1971), Julia Bohnengel (* 1970) and Alexander Košenina (* 1963). The individual lexicon texts were written by a large number of authors. In 2020 the band saw a second edition.

Overview of all the dramas described

The number of dramas written by Kotzebue is estimated at 250–260. Unprinted early dramas and the many prologues from Kotzebue's pen were not considered for the volume. The year of the first printing (Dr) as well as the first documented performance (EDA) appear after the title. It should be noted that the pieces often appeared in Kotzebue's almanac of dramatic games for social entertainment in the country in the autumn, postponed to the coming year . The alphabetical order of the drama titles follows that in the lexicon. (Of the printed works, however, there is no cunning against distrust in the lexicon . A comedy in one act.
