Sigöldulón is a reservoir in Iceland . It is also called Krókslón (formerly: Krókalón ) and is located in the south of the country not far from Landmannalaugar and a little south of the Þórisvatn reservoir in the municipality of Rangárþing ytra .
Its area measures 14 km².
The Tungnaá river flowed through a tuff wall called Sigalda , which was 600 m above sea level. A dam up to 40 m high was built in the upper part of the gorge and the river was dammed.
The water has now been diverted so that it flows through pipes belonging to the Sigalda power station , which has existed since 1973 . It includes three 50 MW turbine units.
