Królowej Jadwigi 5
Ulica Królowej Jadwigi 5 is a listed building in the Polish Sopot ( German Sopot ), Pomeranian Voivodeship . The representative house was built in 1907 in the local style.
history
Victoriastraße was laid out around 1900 near the Kurhaus in the up-and-coming seaside resort of Sopot, and from 1906 to 1914 apartment houses for the upper class were built on. Originally named after the dowager empress Victoria , in 1945 it was renamed ulica Królowej Jadwigi after St. Hedwig of Poland . The Hotel Metropol at the beginning of the street burned down in 1945.
The building was placed under monument protection in 1978 and entered into the list of monuments of the Pomeranian Voivodeship under the number 637588. The five neighboring buildings with house numbers 3, 4, 6 , 7 and 9 are also listed. The building will continue to be used as a residential building, some of which will be rented out to guests as apartments.
description
The building is a representative two and a half storey villa in the local style. The plastered building shows half-timbering on the two attic floors . The floor plan is irregular. A stand bay with a smaller gable is offset to the side of the gable. There are two balconies in the corner in front of the rear. The north facade, on the other hand, has two gables, and the bay window above the house entrance is also not symmetrically arranged and less pronounced. It shows some Art Nouveau elements . The building was renovated and the roof was given a new covering.
