from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kracht von Meschede (also called Craft or Cratho ) (* in the 15th century; † March 9, 1455 ) was a canon in Münster .

Life

Kracht von Meschede came from the Westphalian noble family von Meschede and was the son of Gottfried von Meschede zu Alme (1380–1466) and his wife Regula von Ense. His brother Bernhard was cathedral dean in Münster from 1494 to 1503 . His great-nephew Dietrich was canon in Münster from 1512 to 1545. In 1442 Kracht was named as a canon in Münster. His parents transferred the Mescheder Hof zu Effelen to him on July 25, 1443. He took part in the battle of Valar on July 18, 1454 on the side of Walram von Moers . It was the result of the Munster collegiate feud . Walram's election as bishop had created this conflict. In all likelihood Kracht died as a result of an injury sustained in these fights. In Münster Cathedral there is an epitaph for him and his brother Bernhard.
