Power shaper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kraftformer is a machine for the non-cutting forming of sheet metal , pipes and profiles without the influence of heat ( cold forming ). With the machine, by changing the universally applicable tools, depending on the model, the following forming work can be carried out: upsetting , stretching , reshaping, clamping, crowning , smoothing and straightening . The tools were developed from 1948 by Walter Eckold, the inventor of the first upsetting machine.

history

Walter Eckold (1895–1963) applied for a patent in 1941 for a “machine for the non-cutting shaping of hand-controlled sheet metal or profiles”; However, due to the interruption of the work of the patent office due to the war, it was not issued until 1958. These upsetting machines were further developed and offered from 1950 under the name “Eckold Kraftformer” as a “universal machine for cold forming sheet metal and profiles”. The first Kraftformer KF 400 was built in 1950 in St. Andreasberg in the Harz Mountains . The production facilities for today's models are ECKOLD GmbH & Co. KG in St. Andreasberg (KF 470 Medium and KF 675 Magnum) and Eckold AG in Trimmis / Switzerland (KF 170, KF 170 PD, KF 324, KF 340, KF 800 and Handformer HF).

Areas of application

With a Kraftformer, profiles can be bent, sheet metal can be formed, repair work can be carried out and corrections can be made. Kraftformers are mainly used in the aviation industry , in boat and yacht construction , in wagon construction , in classic car restoration and in all other areas of sheet metal and metal processing.

Models and construction times

The Kraftformer models differ in terms of forming force, throat, stroke rate and pressure control.
