The power plant Erlaufboden is a 1924 put into use hydroelectric power plant in Erlaufboden , a district of Mitterbach am Erlaufsee in Lower Austria . It is a storage power plant ; Water from the Stierwaschboden reservoir is fed to the power plant via pressure tunnels , which is fed from the Erlauf , Lassingbach and Ötscherbach and the underwater from the Wienerbruck power plant . The power plant has three Francis turbines with an output of 1.4 MW each; the bottleneck output (max. output of the power plant) is 3.4 MW.

The Erlaufboden power plant has been in operation since 1924 and is owned by the Lower Austrian energy supply company EVN .

Traction power supply

The power plant is used, among other things, to supply the Mariazell Railway with single-phase alternating current ( traction current ) at a frequency of 25  Hz .

One of the three turbines exclusively drives a generator for the 50 Hz network. The other two turbines each drive two generators (25 Hz and 50 Hz). Normally one of these 25 Hz / 50 Hz combinations will be operated as a converter , i.e. H. The 50 Hz generator runs as a motor on the 50 Hz network when required (if the power of the turbine is too low) and drives the 25 Hz generator (in this way, power can be provided for the Mariazellerbahn even without water ).

110 kV switchgear

110 kV switchgear

There is also an outdoor switchgear for 110 kV for three-phase alternating current (50 Hz) with earth fault compensation on the Erlaufboden site . Independently of the single-phase supply of the Mariazellerbahn, this system connects the 110 kV three-phase network of the Wienerbruck power plant and the Gaming water pipeline power plant . Furthermore, this system and the power plant supply various medium-voltage networks of the public power supply in the area.
