Seealpsee-Wasserauen power plant
The Seealpsee-Wasserauen power plant is a hydropower plant in the Schwende district in the Swiss canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden . It is the oldest power plant in the canton and has been supplying electricity since 1905. The fire show community is the owner of the power plant .

The Seealpsee serves as the water reservoir for the hydropower plant . The power plant is located in Wasserauen and is connected to the lake by a pressure pipe. The installed electrical output is 2.5 megawatts , the annual output is 7.7 gigawatt hours and thus covers around 10% of the canton's electricity needs. The currently valid feed-in tariff is 4.7 cents per kilowatt hour. The lake is located at 1143 m above sea level. M. , the power plant center at 893 m above sea level. M., the height of fall is 253 meters. The machine group and pressure line were replaced in 2005. The total investment was CHF 7.2 million. The comprehensive modernization has resulted in a five-fold increase in output.
Very few visitors to the Seealpsee are aware that the Seealpsee serves as a reservoir for a power plant. The pressure pipe and the damming do not affect the original landscape. This was planned from the start. The Seealpsee was already one of the tourist attractions of the Alpstein when the power plant was built .
