Steinhelle power station

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Steinhelle power plant is a hydropower plant on the Ruhr . The Steinhelle power plant was built by VEW and operated until 2000. The operating company has been RWE AG since 2000 .

The Steinhelle 1 power station and the associated reservoirs were built in 1927 and 1928 under the direction of AEG . It is supplied by two reservoirs. One lies between Siedlinghausen and Brunskappel , its dam is 6 m high and 85 m long, has a capacity of 42,000 m³ and is fed by the Neger . The second pond is in Wiemeringhausen , holds 15,000 m³ and has the Ruhr as a tributary.

Electricity is generated using two Francis turbines from Voith , which drive two AEG three-phase generators with a total nominal output of 2.25 MW. The generator voltage of 6 kV was transformed to 24 kV and fed into high-voltage lines to Büren and Freienohl . In 1951 a substation was built that enabled the 110 kV network to be fed into the building.

After leaving the power plant, the process water from Steinhelle 1 is fed into the Olsberg reservoir , which has a capacity of 72,000 m³ . The Steinhelle 2 power plant block is located there, where a Kaplan turbine with an electrical output of 240 kW is located.
