The Kratzbruch is a river island in the Spree in the Berlin district of Friedrichshain in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district and is located at the entrance to the Rummelsburger Bucht .

history

Like the love island to the northwest , the Kratzbruch is also a valley sand island.

In 1920 the Goodewind Yacht Club was founded on the island. In August 1942, during an Allied air raid in the middle of the island, an explosive bomb hit the island and destroyed the yacht club. A small pond then formed in the bomb crater that was left behind . In contrast to the neighboring island, the Kratzbruch was mainly just a destination for tenters looking for peace and quiet.

The Kratzbruch was declared a protected part of the landscape in 1999, including the ten meter wide strip of water that surrounds it.
