Krešimir Bašić

Krešimir Bašić (born September 15, 1975 ) is a Croatian basketball coach .

Life

During his playing career Bašić worked for the clubs BC Dalvin Split and BC Sucurac 70 Split, from 1994 to 1996 he worked as a coach in the youth division of WBC Lokomotiva Zagreb. In 1996 he moved to WBC Hrvatski Dragovoljac Zagreb, where he was assistant coach of the women's team until 1998 and also employed in youth work. In the 1998/99 season he looked after the Zagreb women as head coach. In 1999/2000 he was assistant coach for the Bosnian men's team BC Posusje.

Bašić accepted an offer from BC Sparta Bartringen in Luxembourg for the 2000/01 season and became the head coach of the first division women there. In the run-up to the 2001/02 season, he moved back to the men's division and took over as head coach at the Luxembourg first division club BBC Etzella in Ettelbrück . In his first season, Bašić Etzella led to winning the national cup competition and in the 2002/03 season to win the championship title and the cup competition. From 2001 to 2006 he also held various coaching positions for the Luxembourg basketball association.

He moved to CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria in 2006 , where he was initially assistant coach and was promoted to head coaching during the 2006/07 season. Then Bašić was in the game years 2007/08 (Al Ahli Jeddah) and 2008/09 (Al Hilal Riyadh) each coach of teams in Saudi Arabia . From 2009 to 2012 he was Amicale Steinsel's trainer in Luxembourg. In 2010 he was also a coach at the Luxembourg Association.

In the summer of 2012 he was hired by the Austrian Bundesliga club Swans Gmunden as head coach. In 2014, the team moved into the cup final under his leadership, but lost there, the best result in the Bundesliga was participation in the semi-finals in the 2014/15 season. His term of office in Gmunden ended in May 2015.

In the 2015/16 season he worked as the assistant coach of the Fubon Braves in Taiwan , in 2016/17 he was initially head coach of KK Tajfun Šentjur in Slovenia , and in October 2016 they separated again.

In spring 2017 he was again a youth coach at the Luxembourg Association, in May 2017 he returned to BBC Etzella as head coach of the men's team. In 2018 he led Etzella to the Luxembourg runner-up and in 2019 to winning the Luxembourg championship. In both game years he was named coach of the year in the Luxembourg league by the specialist portal eurobasket.com .
