Krechting is a district of Rhede in the Borken district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1968 Krechting was an independent municipality .

Krechting is located on the Bocholter Aa , adjoins the Rheder core city to the south and is separated from it by federal highway 67 .

history

Krechting was originally an old Westphalian peasantry in the south of the church village Rhede. The first documentary mention comes from the year 1256. A small town center developed around today's Strait Insel . Since the 19th century, Krechting formed a rural community in the district of Rhede in the Borken district. On August 1, 1968, Krechting was merged with the other municipalities of the Rhede Office to form a new municipality of Rhede, which received city rights in 1975 .
