The Schleiz District Court was a court in Reuss younger line from 1863 to 1879, with its seat in Schleiz . The higher court was the Eisenach appellate court .

history

In 1863 two district courts were formed in Reuss younger line. The one in Schleiz was responsible for the districts of the Schleiz Justice Offices (I and II), Lobenstein Justice Office (I and II) and Hirschberg , while the Gera District Court was responsible for the rest of the principality.

The Schleiz District Court consisted of a District Court Director, two permanent District Court Councilors and the individual judges of the judicial offices and generally made decisions in a collegial manner. It was the court of first instance in all civil law cases that were not minor. In minor cases, the judicial offices were the initial instance and the district courts were the revision instance. Under criminal law, they were the first instance in the case of offenses, and in the case of crimes they conducted the preliminary investigation.

As part of the introduction of the Reich Justice Laws , the Schleiz district court and the judicial offices were dissolved in 1879 and its tasks were transferred to the Gera district court and the Schleiz , Hirschberg and Lobenstein district courts .
