Carl Krall

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carl Krall (born April 10, 1891 in Vienna ; † July 6, 1975 there ) was an Austrian painter, commercial artist and composer.

Life

Krall worked for fashion publishers from 1915, e. B. for "Modern World - Illustrated Review for Art, Literature and Fashion" and the "Suprěme Abessin" ( Abyssinian fashion newspaper). He also worked as a commercial artist. In the 1920s he increasingly turned to painting and devoted himself to the New Objectivity .

In 1923 he was accepted into the Albrecht Dürer Association and in 1926 into the Central Association of Fine Artists . In 1938 he became a member of the “Local Artists Klosterneuburg ” association. A new contact, with the Klosterneuburg Artists' Union, arose from the fact that Krall lived almost every summer in the Villa Hauser in Klosterneuburg, (Martinstrasse 115) from 1932 to 1939. The Klosterneuburger Künstlerbund was founded in 1906 and its best-known member is Egon Schiele . In 1938 Carl Krall joined this association and later became the exhibition director. From that time on he not only exhibited his works there, but also became one of the organizers.

Krall was able to contribute to the fact that exhibitions of the Klosterneuburg Artists Association, apart from presentations in Klosterneuburg Monastery , e.g. B. also took place in Vienna in 1943 and 1944 in the Zedlitzhalle and was extremely active as an exhibition director until 1970, for example as a juror alongside the famous art historian Rupert Feuchtmüller in this association. A poster of the 20th art exhibition of the Klosterneuburg Association of Local Artists from 1946 has been preserved from his hand.

From 1945 to 1956 Krall worked at the Federal Monuments Office . As a restorer, he was able to bridge the hardship and misery of the post-war period. He worked in Vienna, among other things, in Schönbrunn Palace (ceiling fresco by Gregorio Guglielmi from 1761) in Belvedere Palace and the National Library .
