Kreisobrist

The Kreisobrist was an office in the imperial circles of the Holy Roman Empire in the early modern period .

According to the district order of 1522 , each district should appoint a captain and report it to the emperor. However, this should not primarily be the military superior of the district troops, but rather carry out all the tasks of the districts named in these district regulations. In the Augsburg reform work of September 25, 1555 , his tasks have now been redefined with the title of the District Lord.

The most important tasks of the district bishop were

  • the supervision of the land peace within the district,
  • the enforcement of religious peace,
  • the execution of imperial court judgments,
  • Administrative tasks with regard to the Reich currency and the Reich Police,
  • the foreclosure (execution) against defaulting district members,
  • the management of the district affairs between the district assemblies, assigned by the district,
  • the drafting of the district troops and the supervision of their equipment and supplies.

Has actually appointed a District Chief or circle colonel in the districts, the office was usually the principal (d. H. Highest ranking) secular status of the circle transferred to the occupation.
