Cretan column

Cretan columns in Knossos .
A Cretan column is a column shape common in Minoan buildings , in which the column shaft tapers downwards, in contrast to the Greek column, so that the diameter at the base is significantly smaller than at the capital . Cretan columns stand on a flat base and are closed at the top by a bead-shaped capital and an abacus plate.
