Southern Cross in Baron Birdwood's coat of arms

The constellation Southern Cross is a common figure in heraldry and therefore a coat of arms . The constellation is also widespread in flagology .

Of five preferred main stars, four are shown positioned at the end points of the arms of an imaginary cross . A star is added. Occasionally the star is missing for no apparent reason, which should be mentioned in the description of the coat of arms . The stars are predominantly made in the heraldic tinge silver.
