history

The German Cruiser Yacht Association was founded in 1911 in Berlin's Central Hotel by 56 sailors. He should especially take care of the concerns of cruising sailors . In particular, members should be provided with information for their journeys. It thus formed a contrast to the German Sailing Association (DSV), which operated regatta sailing with a focus on. In 1917 both associations merged under the German Sailing Association and the German Cruiser Yacht Association became the cruiser department of the DSV . Due to a dispute about the alignment of the cruiser department of the DSV, around 3500 members left the cruiser department of the DSV in 1998 and formed the Kreuzer Yacht Club Germany as an independent association outside the DSV. The resigned chairman of the cruiser department became the first chairman of the KYCD. In the course of its existence, the KYCD developed into a professional association for the field of water sports.

In recent years the two associations have come closer together with a cooperation agreement between the cruiser department of the DSV and the KYCD as part of training. Since then, both associations have offered courses together.

Organization and members

The association is active nationwide and both natural persons and associations can become members. The association offers information and training in the field of water sports. The sailing magazine is the association's official communication organ.
