The Exaltation of the Cross Church ( Ukrainian Церква Воздвиження Чесного Хреста / Tserkva Wosdwyschennja Tschesnoho Chresta ) or Basilian ( Ukrainian Василіянська церква / Wassylijanska Tserkva ) is a church of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the city of Buchach in the west of Ukraine .
The church of the Basilian monastery was consecrated in 1771 and restored in the 1990s. The founder of the church was the magnate , patron and Kaniwer Starost Nikolaus Basilius Potocki . The architect was Johann Gotfried Hoffmann from Upper Silesia . The construction was led by Johann Schältzer.
At the point where the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross is located, the small Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Cross used to be. After the Holy Cross Church was laid down, the Church of Exaltation of the Cross was built in its place.
