Kreuzstein near Eismannsdorf
The Kreuzstein near Eismannsdorf is a historic land monument south of Eismannsdorf , a district of the Middle Franconian market Allersberg in the Roth district in Bavaria .
description
The Kreuzstein stands on the edge of the forest about 100 meters south of Eismannsdorf near a flat silo. The misshapen cross stone is made of sandstone , is badly weathered and has the dimensions 103 × 40 × 50 cm.
On the narrow side facing the path there is a relief-like cross. The raised Latin cross is carved into an ogival niche in the stone. It measures 40 × 15 cm and the right cross arm is weathered. On the opposite side there is also a niche with a weathered relief that is no longer recognizable today.
When exactly and why this cross stone was erected could not be clarified. The Kreuzstein is believed to be 800 years old. At the end of the 1990s, the small monument was found overturned on the roadside. It was rebuilt by Ernst Wurdak , the then district home nurse of the Roth district , Friedrich Seitz from the German Stone Cross Research and community workers from the Allersberg market.
