Under intersection law both the regulation of the legal relationship are intersections or junctions of roads with each other as the intersection of water and railroads understood with the road.

The crossing law regulates, among other things, the distribution of the costs for the construction of new crossings or the modification of existing crossings as well as the maintenance of the crossings.

Legal regulations can be found for the intersection of public roads in § 12 FStrG , for federal highways with water in § 12a FStrG, a federal waterway with public traffic routes (road and rail) in § 40 ff. WaStrG and for crossings of railways and roads in the Railway Crossing Act , as well in the corresponding state road laws. There are also further regulations in some ordinances.
