Krieger is an impact crater on the northwestern front of the moon in the plain of Oceanus Procellarum . It is located northwest of the great Aristarchus ray crater . From its northwestern edge goes a north-west running moon groove , the Rima warriors . The southern edge is covered by the smaller Van Biesbroeck crater . The rim of the crater is irregular and somewhat eroded.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German draftsman and selenographer Johann Nepomuk Krieger .
