Althaldensleben war memorial (First World War)
The listed war memorial in the Althaldensleben district of the city of Haldensleben in Saxony-Anhalt is located on the west side of the intersection of the streets Lindenallee , Waldstraße and Am Klosterpark .
history
The memorial was erected to commemorate those who fell in World War I from Althaldensleben. It was consecrated on September 7, 1924. The place was made available by the owner of the former monastery at the time , Hans von Mackensen. The monument was financed by donations from the population. Until the end of the Second World War , memorial events were held here regularly. In the GDR era it was no longer used or maintained. After 1993 it was repaired again.
layout
The monument is laid out in the form of an exedra . In the center is a roughly worked block with an iron cross and a motto. On the side stones were the names of the fallen. In the local register of monuments , the monument is registered as an architectural monument under registration number 094 84411 . It is classified there as an interesting complex in terms of town planning and garden design.
