The Freyburg an der Unstrut war memorial is located northwest of St. Mary's Church . The memorial is a stele that was erected in memory of the fallen in 1866 and 1870/71. The stele is on a stepped base and is crowned with an eagle with spread wings. Memorial plaques are attached to the base. An inscription on one of the plaques reads the grateful hometown of your brave sons .
