The Hohendodeleben war memorial is a listed war memorial in the village of Hohendodeleben, part of the town of Wanzleben-Börde in Saxony-Anhalt .

The memorial commemorates the 80 Hohendodeleben people who died in the First World War . It is located on the south side of Matthissonstraße on a square-like extension at the confluence of Mittelstraße .

Design and history

The monument was built in 1922. A monumental-looking, ornate cube was created, with inscription panels on all four sides. Originally existing name inscriptions have been removed. The monument is surrounded by a fence made of stone posts connected with chains.

On the north side there is the inscription:

THE GRATEFUL COMMUNITY
HOHENDODELEBEN

LOYALTY FOR LOYALTY

East Side:

Respect EVERY FATHERLAND
BUT LOVE THAT YOURS

South side:

FIGHT FOR PEACE

IS A LEGACY
FROM THE TEACHINGS
OF THE PAST

West side:

THE DEAD
IN REMEMBRANCE THE LIVING IN REMEMBRANCE

The war memorial is listed in the local register of monuments under registration number 094 98196 as an architectural monument .
