Hundisburg War Memorial

The war memorial is a listed war memorial in the Hundisburg district of the city of Haldensleben in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located on the north side of Magdeburger Straße immediately south at the foot of Hundisburg Castle . Directly opposite, Pastorgasse opens onto Magdeburger Strasse.

Architecture and history

The monument was created in 1926 by the Berlin sculptor Hermann Hosäus for the fallen soldiers of the First World War in forms of expressionism . It is, unusual for such monuments, integrated into the retaining wall of the castle. The war memorial consists of a brick wall into which consoles are inserted, on which the actual plaque with the names of the fallen Hundisburger rests. The table is crowned by a gable in the form of a tympanum . In the triangle of the gable is a relief designed as a horse with a plow. A stylized landscape is depicted in an oval under the panel .

The monument is delimited from the street by a stone bench built in the shape of a semicircle .

In the local register of monuments , the inn is registered as a monument under registration number 094 50035 .

inscription
